This paper is the first in a policy series that aims to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness on the development of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies in the EU. The subsequent papers will analyze other related European ESG policies and practices.
Abstract:
"The European Union’s (EU) Green Deal, introduced in December 2019, is a comprehensive roadmap aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The EU Green Deal focuses on various areas, including: increasing the EU’s climate ambition; energy security, renewability and affordability; circular economy; building’s construction and renovation efficiency; sustainable mobility; environmentally-friendly food systems; biodiversity protection; air, water and soil’s zero-pollution targets. This paper explains the main objectives of the EU Green Deal and analyzes how the implementation of the plan has progressed in the past four years."
